What we do.
We specialise in projects that are intimate in scale but high in quality, detail and ambition.
-
Fixed-price design concepts, feasibility studies and consultancy give you clarity from the start. Each concept responds to your site and goals, developed quickly and transparently.
Use it as a foundation for tendering, budgeting or comparison, with the option to continue with us (or not) into the next stage. -
Custom homes that bring together architecture, interiors, furniture and landscape.
From new builds to renovations and heritage extensions, each home is tailored to its site and residents, balancing comfort, sustainability and long-term value. -
Spaces that tell a story.
We translate identity into atmosphere, shaping environments that carry meaning and trigger connection.Beyond logos and colours, we create places that embody values and bring people together.
-
Spaces that connect people.
From breweries to churches, cultural venues to pavilions. These projects emphasize identity, atmosphere and function, creating inclusive and sustainable places that serve their community.

Build less and live more.
With a focus on quality over quantity, we strive to reduce excess in our projects and concentrate on what truly matters. Sustainable architecture that enriches life rather than overwhelms it.
Three principles guide this approach:
Care for our clients and the environment
Clarity in process and outcomes
Character in the spaces we create
Steve and Clare
“Tim Pardoe is an excellent architect. He designed the renovation of our heritage-listed house, seamlessly merging the original cottage with a modern extension. He is innovative, and creative with a fine attention to detail. He is very easy to work with, including remotely, and we highly recommend him and his work. Thank you, for helping us create such a beautiful home.”
Projects delivered anywhere.
We are based in Hamburg, Germany and originally from Western Australia. We deliver projects in both countries, often remotely. Our process is built on trust and collaboration. We talk, sketch and workshop with you to resolve your vision, then partner with local consultants, artisans and builders to bring it to life.

Concept design is
our superpower!
Often, the greatest value in architecture comes at the beginning. When needs are understood, ideas are explored, and the dream starts to feel possible. That’s why concept design is at the heart of what we do. With clear fixed price packages, we make it simple to explore inspiring options, providing clients just getting started with beautiful design packages and the freedom to choose their own way forward.

The Client’s Journey.
Building is as much about the journey as it is the destination. At every step you’ll know what decisions are needed, what comes next, and how your project is progressing. Five clear stages map the journey from vision to reality.
-
Obligation-free stage to explore options, research architects and clarify your goals.
We provide free tools to support this. If you like our approach, we prepare a tailored fee proposal.
Once accepted, our partnership begins.
-
We listen and ask questions to create a clear project brief.
Through a tailored questionnaire and open conversation, we capture your vision, goals, priorities, budget and timeline in one document.
This is the Project Brief.
-
Where ideas take shape.
Through sketches, plans and 3D models we test possibilities and refine direction. Depending on your chosen path, the concept can progress into design development, approvals and documentation.
Everything needed to bring the vision to life.
-
Technical drawings and specifications that make the design buildable.
This stage ensures compliance, accuracy and clear communication with builders.
-
We coordinate consultants, craftsmen and builders from our trusted network to realise the project.
Whether managed locally or remotely with on-site support, we oversee the build through construction until to handover, and beyond.

About The Joshua Brook.
Joshua Brook Studio is based in Hamburg, with projects across Germany and Western Australia. We are small in scale with a personal and collaborative approach at the core of our work. Each project is shaped through close cooperation with clients and a trusted network of consultants, tradespeople and artisans.
Founded by Western Australian native Tim Pardoe, the studio takes its name from The Joshua Brook. A river that winds through rolling hills in Australia’s south west to the Indian Ocean. It remains an ideal. A treasured place. A reminder that even in an industry shaped by rules and regulation, creativity can flow through convention to create meaningful and wonderful built landscapes.
